1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using KiKu ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

KiKu is a macOS application that provides AI-powered meeting transcription, summarization, voice dictation, and text-to-speech capabilities. The App records audio from your microphone and system audio, processes it through third-party AI services, and generates text-based notes.

3. Requirements

  • macOS 26 or later
  • A valid OpenAI API key (provided by you)
  • Microphone and screen recording permissions as requested by the App

4. Your API Key

KiKu requires your own OpenAI API key to function. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your API key
  • All charges incurred through your OpenAI account as a result of using KiKu
  • Complying with OpenAI's terms of service and usage policies

KiKu stores your API key locally on your device and never transmits it to any server other than OpenAI's API endpoints.

5. Recording and Consent

You are solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws regarding audio recording, including but not limited to:

  • Obtaining consent from all meeting participants before recording
  • Complying with local, state, and national wiretapping and eavesdropping laws
  • Following your organization's policies on meeting recording

KiKu provides a consent reminder feature to assist you, but compliance is ultimately your responsibility.

6. Data and Privacy

KiKu processes all data locally on your Mac. Audio recordings and generated notes are stored only on your device. Please refer to our Privacy Policy and Data Controls page for detailed information about how your data is handled.

7. Intellectual Property

KiKu and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by KiKu and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal or business purposes.

8. Limitations

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the App
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Record conversations without proper consent

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

KiKu is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that transcriptions or AI-generated summaries will be accurate, complete, or error-free. AI-generated content should be reviewed before being shared or acted upon.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, KiKu shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages arising from your use of the App or reliance on AI-generated content.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
